Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – The state trap shooting championship will close the door on spring sports season on Friday in Prior Lake. The Section 4A champion Detroit Lakes Lakers, featuring Carter Havercamp, Cameron Akers, Kira Wolf, James Schattschneider, and Owen Chiodo, will compete for a team championship. Mikayla Engum and Brooke Loreth are alternates.
Detroit Lakes had a team score of 482 in the qualifying meet, which put them in 12 place overall. The top 40 teams compete at state.
Alexandria tied with Benson and Prior Lake for the top score at 491. Other area teams competing in the state shoot are Bemidji, Minnewaska, Park Rapids, Wheaton, and Thief River Falls.
111 boys and 28 girls from across the state will also be competing for individual championships. Students from the listening area include:
