Detroit Lakes, Minn. (KDLM) – Two Ponsford residents were injured in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Highway 10 and Highway 59 in Detroit Lakes on Wednesday.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, on June 7 at 1:54 p.m., emergency dispatchers received a report of a vehicle crash with possible injuries.

A 2021 Chevy Malibu, driven by 73-year-old Marva Joan Aitken, was eastbound on Highway 10 and attempted to turn left during a red light onto Highway 59 when her vehicle collided with a westbound 2014 Ford Edge, driven by 19-year-old Brailee Rose Sgro.

Sgro was not injured during the crash, but Aitken and her passenger, 74-year-old Albert Leroy Brunner, suffered non-life-threatening injuries during the collision and were both transported to Essentia Health St. Mary’s in Detroit Lakes for treatment.

All vehicle occupants involved in the crash were wearing their seat belts at the time of the collision and alcohol is not believed to have played a role in the incident.
