Phelps Mill reopens ahead of festival July 8-9

Detroit Lakes , MN (KDLM) – Phelps Mill is finally back open after a lengthy restoration project that included laying an entirely new foundation for the nearly 135-year-old historic mill.

The Otter Tail County historic fixture, located north of Battle Lake off County Road 45, was purchased by Otter Tail County in 1965 and has gone under a myriad of renovations over the years.

The county secured more than $400,000 in grant funding through the Minnesota historical society and a state capital grant for the restoration.

The annual Phelps Mill Festival is scheduled for July 8-9 at Phelps Mill Park and will feature more than 100 artist booths, turtle races, and a craft beer and wine tasting.
