Area Track and Field Athletes Set To Compete At Hamline Elite Meet on Friday

St. Paul, Minn (KDLM) – It’s Hamline Elite Meet day down in St. Paul…a meet where stand-out track athletes from across the state get together to compete in a meet where all classes compete together. A number of area athletes are making the trip to Hamline University today.

From Perham, Lauryn Rustad will compete in the 100m hurdles, Jaden Hackel will compete in the triple jump, Bjorn Anderson will run the 800m and 1600m, and Gracie Morris will compete in the pole vault.

Grace Gunderson of Detroit Lakes also qualified for the meet. She’ll compete in the high jump today after posting the third-best jump in the state so far this season with a jump of five feet, five inches.

Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale will send two athletes to Hamline today. Malachi Ervasti will run the 100m today and Brady Rach will compete in the 1600m.

The Moorhead Spuds are three relay teams to Hamline today: the boys 4×100 relay team from Moorhead featuring Mason Kline, Michael Haugo, Abraham Carlson, and Samyan Kasim will run today. The same boys will run in Moorhead’s 4×200 relay. The Spuds girls 4×100 team of Emnel Wotoe, Cipriana Jones, Alexis Olderbak, and Kaityn Walthers will also compete today. Haugo will also compete in the long jump., and Olderback will compete in the triple jump.

Fergus Falls thrower Alexander Jensen will compete in both the shot put and discus today, and teammate Shane Zierden will compete in the triple jump.

State cross country champion Jade Rypkema of Nevis, who will run collegiately at Gonzaga next fall, will compete in the girls 3200m race today. Liddy DeWulf will compete in the shot put.
