Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – Don’t put that shovel away quite yet.
On Sunday, the National Weather Service in the Twin Cities issued the first official advisory related to this week’s impending snowstorm. The NWS has issued a Winter Storm Watch , which is in effect from 6 am Tuesday through 7 am on Thursday for much of the northern half of the state.
The Detroit Lakes area is predicted to have 9 to 18 inches of snowfall between Tuesday and Thursday this week with Thief River Falls and Roseau predicted to receive as much as 21 inches.
The situation will be worsened by high winds, with gusts predicted to reach 60 mph, which could create blizzard conditions on the roads.
