Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – A 20-year-old man from East Grand Forks was arrested after leading authorities on a high-speed chase late Tuesday afternoon on Highway 10 between Frazee and Detroit Lakes.

The vehicle was clocked at over 100 miles an hour on a county highway, then turned onto U-S highway 10. The speeding vehicle went through “stop sticks” set at two points: one at the County Highway 54/Highway 10 intersection and the other at the Highway 10/Roosevelt Avenue overpass. Officers then decided to break off the pursuit.

They picked up the chase again at the western edge of Detroit Lakes once the vehicle traveled past the Highway 59 intersection.

Authorities say the suspect vehicle then slowed down and eventually went into the ditch. The driver, Bobby Newborn, was arrested for Fleeing Police, Felony Marijuana Possession, and outstanding felony warrants.

A passenger was released without criminal charges.
