Becker County Food Pantry To Hold Drive-Thru Food Drive on March 20th

Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM)-

The Becker County Food Pantry, Detroit Lakes Lions, and Detroit Lakes Dairy Queen are partnering for a drive-thru food drive from noon to four on Saturday, March 20th at the Food Pantry.

The Detroit Lakes Lions will match all cash donations up to $500, and everybody who donates will receive a coupon for a free Dairy Queen treat.

“Cash donations really do go a long way,” says Brad Carlson with the Becker County Food Pantry. “We are getting a lot of product coming in from the government buying up items from restaurants and schools that can no longer use them. They are selling all of those items to us for eight cents a point. So, a two-pound bag of pistachios that usually run $10-15, we are buying for only 16 cents.”

The drive-thru food drive will be held at the Becker County Food Shelf, located at 1308 Rossman Ave in Detroit Lakes. You can get more info on the food drive, plus other donation opportunities by calling 846-0142.
