Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – The popular city-wide scavenger hunt, The Great Polar Hunt, returns to the Polar Fest schedule this Thursday.
“There are a number of businesses in Detroit Lakes who all got together to make this fun event,” says DL Chamber president Carrie Johnston. “This is a great event for families to do together, individuals, co-workers, or anyone who wants to participate.”
Participants stop by participating businesses to receive a scrambled letter that points to a clue somewhere in the 56501 zipcode…which could bring treasure-hunters outside the Detroit Lakes city limits.
“Teams have from February 15th thru the 24th to find those clues,” explains Johnston. “They’ll be posted on the front doors or storefront windows of participating businesses. Each location will have a secret letter to unscramble, and you’ll have a chance to win one of the door prizes, valued at a couple of hundred dollars each, everything from a vacation package up at Shooting Star to some gift certificate packages to use around town.”
It’s $10 dollars per team to participate in the scavenger hunt. You can have as many people on a team as you’d like.
“There are nine days to get around and find all the clues, and it’s also a great opportunity to check out some of the businesses around town. You can do it all in one day or spread it out over the full eight days. There is a lot of flexibility there.”
This year’s participating businesses include MidMinnesota Federal Credit Union, Becker Pet and Garden, Richwood Store, Bluebird Books, Edward Jones – Anna Schmitz, United Savings Credit Union, We Fest, Pro Print, RCH Custom Homes, Star of the Lakes Hotel, State Farm – Nick Christenson, Better Every Day Consignments, Papa Murphy’s, eXp Realty – Ever Property Group, and Minuteman Mortgage.
