(KDLM/KXRA) – A 12-year-old Paynesville girl is continuing to recover after suffering a traumatic head injury while skiing last week.
Jo Weis was skiing at Powder Ridge near Kimball on February 1st when was injured. Weis, who was brought to Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis, also has multiple skull fractures and lacerations. According to her CaringBridge page, she has already had surgery on the bone above her right eye and she’ll have plastic surgery on her cheekbone in a couple of weeks
Weis remains sedated and on a breathing tube to keep her calm and resting while she recovers.
Jo is a sixth-grader at Paynesville Middle School.
A GoFundMe was set up to help offset costs as Jo’s mother, Melissa, misses work to care for her daughter. The GoFundMe page’s original goal was $10,000. At last check, it was approaching $21,000.
