Detroit Lakes Wrestling Splits Home Triangular

Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM/KRCQ) – The Detroit Lakes Lakers hosted a Wrestling Triangular on January 17th.  Long Prairie-Grey Eagle/Browerville and Fergus Falls came to town.

LPGE/B and FF opened the night up with the Wolves beating the Otters 69-9.  Then DL took on LPGE/B in the second matchup.

The Wolves opened up with a Forfeit and a pinfall win to take a 12-0 lead and never lost control.  The Lakers did have it down to 28-25, heading into the 195lb weight class. LPGE/B got a Major win and a Pinfall win to make it 38-25.  The HWT matchup went Detroit Lakes way, with Senior Jeffrey Moen picking up his 60th win, but the Lakers fell 38-31.

In addition to Jeffrey Moen’s highlight win, the Lakers also got highlight wins from Tyson Ullyott at 145lb, with his 100th win at 160, Cade Okeson got his 100th win and at 182, and Cade Jackson got not only his 175th win but his 100th pin against LPGE/B.

The Lakers then took on Fergus Falls to end the night and 7th Grader Avery Nordy got his first win AND first pinfall with a pin at 2:29 at 106.

The Lakers were leading halfway through 29-12 and went on to close it out 59-24 over the Otters.  For FF, Senior Jacob Widness got his 75th win at 170 lbs.  the Lakers closed it out with Jeffrey Moen getting his 61st win with a pin at 108 to move to 19-0 this season.  The Lakers are off until Friday when they host the Mid-State Conference Duels.

Laker Wrestling returns to 102.3 KRCQ Friday, January 27th when they host Crookston and West Central Area/Ashby in another Triangular.
