ST. PAUL, Minn (KFGO) – The general manager of the Minnesota State Fair is expecting the annual event to return this summer. It was canceled last year by the coronavirus pandemic – the first time the Great Minnesota Get Together had been called off in 74 years.

Jerry Hammer says the outlook for the event that draws upwards of 2-million people is encouraging, but there is no timeline for a final decision. Hammer says safety precautions will be followed – including face masks, social distancing, non-contact payment, and the possibility of limits on attendance.

The last time the fair was canceled was in 1946 in the middle of the polio pandemic.
