Detroit Lakes Volleyball Draws Kasson-Mantorville in The Opening Round Of The State Tournament

(KDLM) – The brackets for the 2022 State Volleyball tournaments have been released, and the champions of Section 8AAA Detroit Lakes Lakers will play two-seed Kasson-Mantorville at 7:00 on Wednesday evening at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.

The Lakers enter the tournament 21-4 overall after beating Alexandria in thrilling fashion in the 8AAA championship game last Thursday night.

The Kasson-Mantorville Komets have won Section 1AAA in consecutive years now. This season, they are 23-8 and are ranked the #3 team in Class AAA. They beat Austin 3-0, Fairbault 3-2, and Byron 3-2 to advance to the state tournament. The Komets finished second at state last year, falling to Marshall in the championship match.

The winner of Detroit Lakes vs Kasson-Mantorville will face the winner of three-seed Benilde-St. Margarets vs Monticello on Friday.

KDLM will have the State quarterfinal matchup between Detroit Lakes and Kasson-Mantorville on Wednesday, with the pregame show beginning around 6:45 for the 7:00 start.
