Thursday Volleyball Roundup: WDC beats Henning To Stay Perfect in Conference Play, #2 Pequot Lakes sweeps Detroit Lakes

(KDLM) – VOLLEYBALL NOTES FROM THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 29th

Wadena-Deer Creek (9-3, 4-0) and Henning (13-3, 3-1) entered Thursday’s matchup undefeated in Park Region Conference play before WDC’s 3-0 sweep of the Hornets 25-17, 27-25, 25-19 in their only meeting this season. WDC has now won eight straight matches and ten of their last eleven (their one loss was to AAAA Brainerd in the Sauk Rapids-Rice Invitational in mid-September).

#2AA Pequot Lakes (13-1) handed Detroit Lakes (11-2) their first conference loss of the season, beating the Lakers 25-20, 25-22, 25-16. The Lakers led in a close second set 14-8 before a 12-3 run by the Patriots helped close out the set. The Lakers will host Thief River Falls next Tuesday night.

Perham (9-11) was pushed by Pelican Rapids (6-7), but the Yellowjackets swept the Vikings 25-23, 26-24, 25-12 in their matchup. After losing six straight, Perham has won back-to-back matches for the first time since the first two matches of the season. Perham hosts Barnesville next Tuesday.
