EAST GRAND FORKS (KDLM) – The Laker boys hockey team was blown out by the East Grand Forks Green Wave 9-0 at the Civic Center in East Grand Forks on Thursday night. The Lakers gave up three goals in all three periods and dropped their 3rd straight game as the Green Wave showed why they are atop the Section 8A standings. The Green Wave outshot Detroit Lakes 54-5 and improved their record to 6-5 on the season. The Green Wave remains perfect against Section 8A opponents as they move to 3-0 in section games. East Grand Forks Junior Trey Ausmus finished the night with three goals and two assists as he led the team on offense.
With the loss, the Lakers drop below .500 for the first time this season and are now 5-6 on the year. Detroit Lakes is now 2-3 in section games. The Lakers will look to turn it around next week when they host Prairie Center on Thursday and travel to Thief River Falls on Saturday.

Girls Basketball: The Lakers are on a 3-game winning streak after beating Aitkin on the road on Thursday night 65-32. The Lakers dominated play and led at the half 46-15. Detroit Lakes moves to 7-4 overall and improves to 5-2 in the Mid-State Conference. They will return to action on Tuesday when they host the Park Rapids Panthers.
