HENRIETTA TOWNSHIP (KDLM) – A Park Rapids man has been arrested after striking a teenager with his vehicle and then driving away.
The Hubbard County Sheriff’s Office says Robert Mackay Jr. Of Park Rapids struck an 18 year-old woman on July 7 around 9:40 p.m. who was walking along 170th St. In Henrietta township.
The victim reported that was walking with her sister when a red Ford Ranger came from behind them and struck her, injuring her hand and foot. The vehicle then accelerated and sped away.
Deputies found broken parts of the vehicle at the scene and soon located a red Ford Ranger in the area with a broken passenger side mirror. The driver of that vehicle was identified as Mackay Jr. Who showed signs of impairment and admitted to seeing people walking along the road and drinking “a lot”.
Mackay Jr.’s preliminary breath test showed an alcohol concentration of .16 and he was arrested for DUI.
