Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – Laker Boys soccer assistant coach Joel Juni has been named the head soccer coach at Oak Hills Christian College in Bemidji. Juni had been been the assistant coach in Detroit Lakes for the last eight seasons.
“Leaving was a difficult decision that took me over a year to pray about and ponder,” Juni said. “I love the Detroit Lakes community and will forever cherish the 12 years of living there and being involved with the DL area soccer family.”
Juni was also heavily involved in the Detroit Lakes Youth Soccer Association (DLYSA) for the last 10 years. While with DLYSA, Joel has officiated games, helped coach and run several different teams and programs, and also served as a board member of the club for seven years.
“With the sale of our house in Detroit Lakes and our eventual move to Park Rapids, I resigned from coaching soccer at Detroit Lakes High School,” Juni said. “The day after I resigned from the high school, I received an email from a friend about an exciting opportunity in Bemidji. Crazy God timing!”
The Oak Hills Christian College Wolfpack Men’s Soccer team will have its inaugural season in the fall of 2023.
