Royal Tree and City Park to Remain Lit Through February

DETROIT LAKES (KDLM) – The Detroit Lakes City Park will remain lit up through February.

A “Royal Tree” and three additional trees were decorated with thousands of lights as part of Polar Fest. Additional small ice sculptures were also added.

Extreme temperatures throughout the 12 day Polar Fest event in early February kept many spectators indoors, so the MN Sn’ICE Ice Harvest committee who put on the display has decided to keep the display through the end of the month.

The Committee, which was unable to create an Ice Palace on the Detroit Lakes City Beach this year due to COVID-19 restrictions is hoping to create an Ice Palace in 2022 as a finale to Detroit Lakes’ 150th Anniversary.
