Study Aims to Find Location for Community Commercial Kitchen in Pelican Rapids

PELICAN RAPIDS (KDLM) – Community members may soon have access to a commercial kitchen in Pelican Rapids.

Friends of the Pelican Rapids Public Library, a nonprofit is acting as fiscal host of a feasibility study to find three possible locations for a community commercial kitchen for the Pelican Rapids area.

The commercial kitchen would serve as a place for Meals on Wheels, small business food entrepreneurs, farmers, and gardeners to prepare and process their products. It would also serve as a meeting and eating space for family, neighborhood, and organization get togethers.

Friends of the Library and the Local Foods, Local Places steering committee have already brought in money for the first half of the study. Now they need to finish bringing in $4,000 for the last half of the study. Their deadline is June 30th, followed by release of the study results.
