Lakes Area Youth Track Meet Is July 28th At DLHS Track

Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – The Detroit Lakes Track and Field team will host their first annual Lakes Area Youth Track Meet at Mollberg Field on Thursday, July 28th at 5:30. Registration begins at 4:30.

Events include the softball throw, standing long jump, and 50m, 100m, 400m, 800m, 1600m, and 4x100m relay races.

“We are inviting all kids throughout Lakes area, not just Detroit Lakes,” said DL Girls track coach Maggy Doll. “We want this event to introduce kids to track while making friends from area towns along the way. That’s what makes track fun!”

There are six different age brackets for the events: Under 5, ages 5-6, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12 and 13-14. The 50m dash is for ages 5-10 only, the 800m is for ages 6-8 only, and the 1600m is for ages 9-14.

The top eight finishers in each event get a ribbon, and the first 150 kids that get registered get a free t-shirt courtesy of Pro Resources.

Registration fees for kids ages 5-14 are $20, and ages 5 and under are $10 with a $50 max per family.
