Eken and Marquart Honored for Years of Service by City of Detroit Lakes

DETROIT LAKES (KDLM) – Representative Paul Marquart and Senator Kent Eken were honored by the city of Detroit Lakes, Tuesday.

Marquart and Eken were both given plaques for their service to the state and the community after addressing the Detroit Lakes City Council on their work in the legislature this year and their years of service in public office.

Both Marquart and Eken have announced they will not be seeking reelection in November.

“Both of you have played a big role in the city of Detroit Lakes for our growth. You’ve been very vital and you’ve represented both the parties whether you’re Republican or Democrat you’ve done well for our city and helped with so many projects,” said Detroit Lakes Vice Mayor, Ron Zeman.

Both Marquart and Eken have played significant roles in their tenure to ensure large projects in Detroit Lakes came to fruition including the Becker County Museum, Detroit Lakes Water treatment facility, and the Highway 10 reconstruction.

“You’re so proactive and it makes it so easy for us…the community engagement is so visible in Detroit Lakes with all the things going on and the growth that’s taken place,” said Eken.

Eken and Marquart have a combined 40 years in the Minnesota legislature.
