MAYVILLE, ND (KDLM) – Detroit Lakes graduate Christian Solberg and Mahnomen/Waubun graduate Justin Littlefoot will play in Saturday’s North Dakota Shrine Bowl, which raises funds and awareness for Shriner’s Hospitals.
Solberg and Littlefoot are the only Minnesotans that will play in the game. Solberg will play football at St. John’s University next season, while Littlefoot will play for the MSUM Dragons.
The North Dakota Shrine Bowl was created in 1974 to honor high school athletes who have excelled on the football field but also display the qualities of a young man with high character, to promote awareness and raise funds for Shriners Children’s.
There are currently over 350 children throughout North Dakota who are active patients at Shriners hospitals. Shriners Children’s are committed to providing the best care for children in our specialty areas of Orthopedics, Burn Care, Spinal Cord Injury, and Cleft Lip and Palate, regardless of a family’s ability to pay.
The Shrine Bowl Camp week, held at Mayville State University in North Dakota, began on Tuesday, June 14th, followed by Shriners Patient Ambassador Day on Thursday. The Awards Banquet and both all-star games (11-man football and 9-man football) will be on Saturday, June 18th.
The 11-man game kicks off at 4 pm and the 9-man game is slated to kick off at 7 pm. You can stream the game here.
