DETROIT LAKES (KDLM) –  MnDOT has put out a warning to drivers to be on the lookout for cracking and buckling roads through the weekend.

Extremely high temperatures are expected through the weekend with highs potentially reaching 100 degrees. Those temperatures can be hard on road surfaces.

The heat can cause concrete slabs to expand and crack and the damage can range from minor cracking to large heaves in the concrete.

Drivers are being advised to watch for changing road conditions. If you see buckling on your route, try to avoid driving over it and call 911 to report it.
