Mallow In Fourth Place At -2 At Class AAA State Golf Tournament; Belka Leads Field In Class AA

(KDLM) – Detroit Lakes senior McKenna Mallow is in fourth place after Day One of the Class AAA State Golf Tournament at Bunker Hills Golf Course in Coon Rapids.

Mallow shot a -2 70 with three birdies on the front nine for a -3 on the turn. She shot +1 on the back nine with one birdie and two bogies. Mallow’s -2 makes her one of four golfers to shoot under-par on day one of the two-day state tournament.

Teammate Hanna Knoop shot a +9 81, which ties her for 24th place overall. Knoop was +6 on the front and +3 on the back.

Kathryn Van Arragon of Blaine shot a -7 to lead the field. Ms. Minnesota Golf winner Isabella McCauley Simley is in second with a -5. Reese McCauley is in third place at -4.

In Class A, the Falcons of Fertile-Beltrami are in sixth place with a 410. Lac qui Parle Valley and Legacy Christian Academy are tied for first place with a score of 354. Adysen Tysdal of Ottertail Central is tied for tenth place with a +17 89 at Pebble Creek Golf Course in Becker.

In Class AA, the Fergus Falls Otters girls team is in second place with a team score of 357, 27 strokes behind Lake City for first place. Pequot Lakes and Providence Academy trail Fergus by only five strokes for second place. Mallory Belka of Perham leads the field with a +4 76 heading into Day Two, two strokes ahead of Julian Brown of Redwood Valley and three strokes ahead of Anna Eckmann of Park Rapids.

Day Two of the State Golf Tournament for the girls begins at noon on Wednesday.
