(KDLM) – Day One of the Class A Minnesota Track and Field Meet is complete, and 14 area athletes have advanced to the Friday evening Finals at St. Michael-Albertville High School.
In addition to the 14 finalists, Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton’s Joshua Finseth won the state championship in the triple jump with a new personal record of 46-01.50…more than two feet farther than the second-place finisher. Finseth will also compete in the boys 400m finals after finishing fourth in Thursday’s prelims. McKale Pierson, also from Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton, will run in the 300m hurdles after a 3rd place finish in the prelims.
Perham’s Lauryn Rustad broke her own school record to finish seventh in the 100m hurdles with a time of 15.90. She’ll race in the finals tonight at 5:00.
DGF’s McKale Pierson placed 6th in the 110m hurdles and WDC’s Brady Domier finished in 9th to advance to the finals. Domier also finished second in the pole vault with a 14-06.00…only outdone by two-time state champ Pine Island’s Jarod White who set a new state meet record 16-00.00 (White set the all-time MSHSL record at the section meet with a vault of 16-02.00).
Pine Island senior Jarod White, who set an all-time pole vault state record of 16-2 last week, clears 16-0 to set a state meet record. The bar is moving up to 16-5. https://t.co/SW1UkBUTwZ pic.twitter.com/5im2nzphzJ
