ALEXANDRIA, MN (KDLM) – Detroit Lakes Track and Field will be well represented at the Class AA State Track and Field Meet at St. Michael-Albertville High School next weekend.
The Lakers qualified athletes in seven events at the 8AA Finals in Alexandria on Saturday, including two individual section champions.
Junior Abby Larson will compete in three different events next week. Larson won the 100m dash with a time of 12.63. Larson also finished runner-up in the 200m dash, only 0.02 seconds behind section champion Cecelia Woods of Rocori.

“I was pretty nervous before the first race (the 100m), but I reminded myself just to think of this like any other race…just remember to breathe and do my best.”
Larson also anchored the girls 4×200 team, also Section runner-up, with a time of 1:47.18. Freshman Ella Paulson, senior Annie Paulson, and freshman Mallory Fischer will also compete in the 4×200 next weekend.

“It’s my new PR by only an inch,” Horner said after the meet. “I’m hoping for another PR at State.”
