Turf Wars Racing Moves to New Location in Detroit Lakes

DETROIT LAKES (KDLM) – The annual Turf Wars Racing event is back in the Lakes Area this weekend, but in a new venue.

The ATV and dirt bike drag racing event has moved from Sherbrooke Turf near Cormorant to the Becker County Fairgrounds in Detroit Lakes this Saturday.

The track will be 300 feet long at the fairgrounds compared to the 500 foot track in years past, but Luke Eggebraaten one of the event organizers says the bleachers at the fairgrounds and being in the heart of Detroit Lakes will make for a better experience, “Being able to bring this into the community, into the heart of Detroit Lakes, we’re so stoked about.”

More than 150 racers are expected to participate this weekend with registration beginning at 6 a.m. and racing at 10 a.m. on Saturday.

Spectators are welcome, tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for kids under 12.
