McKenna Mallow added to Ms. Minnesota Golf Watchlist

Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – Detroit Lakes senior McKenna Mallow has been named to the Ms. Minnesota Golf watchlist.

Mallow was named as one of fifteen golfers from across the state for the award. Other area golfers include Mallory Belka of Perham, Emily Doeden of Park Christian, and Lauren Rebrovich and Cora Larson of Alexandria.

Mallow has two first-place finishes (Becker, Pequot Lakes), three second-place finishes (Detroit Lakes-Lakeview, Moorhead, Minnewaska), and a sixth-place finish (Alexandria) this season and is averaging 77.8 strokes per tournament.

The annual award was created in 2016 to recognize the outstanding male and female high school senior golfers based on their performance on the golf course, academic achievement, and strength of character. Finalists are chosen by a committee of high school coaches and amateur golf representatives. Detroit Lakes alum Kate Smith won the inaugural Ms. Minnesota Golf award in 2016.

A statewide committee comprised of high school coaches and Minnesota golf leadership will select eight girls and eight boys based on their respective performances in the 2022 high school tournament season. From the group of finalists, two individual golfers will be chosen as Ms. Minnesota Golf and Mr. Minnesota Golf, and presented with the award on Sunday, June 12 at Windsong Farm Golf Club in Independence, MN.
