DETROIT LAKES (KDLM) – After being cancelled last year, the United Way of Becker County is planning to hold their annual Day of Caring across the Lakes Area.
This year’s event is scheduled for Wednesday, May 4 with more than 2,000 volunteers fanning out across Becker County to assist senior citizens, disabled or an active military person with yard work, garden cleanup and window washing.
“We have not held Day of Caring in Becker County since 2019 because of COVID. We are so excited to once again be working with the students and staffs of Detroit Lakes, Frazee and Lake Park Audubon Schools and Community Volunteers to reach out and assist our most seasoned citizens with projects that enable them to stay in their homes longer,” said LuAnn Porter, Executive Director for the United Way of Becker County.
Those in need of assistance are encouraged to call 218-847-0727 for help in Detroit Lakes; (218) 334-3101 for help in Frazee; (218) 238-5915 in the Lake Park Audubon area.
The deadline to call is April 25.
