HAWLEY, Minn. (KFGO) – DNA samples were used to identify the victim of a deadly house fire near Hawley last month.
Clay County Sheriff Mark Empting says 76-year-old Terry Steinweg, who lived in the home, died in the March 12 blaze. Empting says the Ramsey County Medical Examiner determined that Steinweg died from the affects of soot and smoke. A state fire investigator was not able to come up with a cause for the fire.
The house was destroyed.
