WATCH: Tour the Historic Sprafka Home in Detroit Lakes

DETROIT LAKES (KDLM) – The historic Sprafka house in Detroit Lakes has been sold.

The home, on Summit Avenue was built by renowned Polish architect, Victor Cordella in 1922, who is known for designing more than 20 churches throughout Minnesota as well as the Swedish Institute in Minneapolis.

Timber milled near Rat Lake which is north of Strawberry lake was used to construct the building using quarter sawn oak, “The beams in the ceiling are all quarter sawed oak and some of the leftover wood is also in the floor so the floor has a very unique pattern,” said Sandy Sprafka, whose family has lived in the home for three generations.
