Boys Section Hockey Continues Today, State Girls Championships Tonight

(KDLM) – The Girls Hockey State tournament will conclude tonight at the Xcel Energy Center. Meanwhile, boys hockey semifinal matchups are scheduled across the state to set up Section Championship matchups later next week.

After a 4-2 come-from-behind win against Kittson County Central on Thursday, the Detroit Lakes Lakers are in East Grand Forks today to face the Thief River Falls Prowlers in the Section 8A semifinals at 6:00. Warroad will face East Grand Forks on the other side of the bracket. The championship game is Thursday, March 3rd at 7:00.

In Section 6A, Alexandria faces Morris-Benson Area at 4:00 in St. Cloud. Fergus Falls will play Northern Lakes at 6:00.

The top-seeded Moorhead Spuds, after beating Brainerd 7-0 in the quarterfinal round, will play STMA in the Section 8AA semifinals tonight at 6:00 in Moorhead.

The Girls State Hockey Championship games are tonight. After upsetting #2 Orono yesterday morning 4-1, #3 Proctor/Hermantown will face #1 Warroad for the Class A title at 4:00 at the Xcel Energy Center. Warroad beat #4 South St. Paul 5-0 in yesterday’s semifinal matchup.

In Class AA, #1 Andover looks to put the finishing touches on their undefeated season. After beating #5 Gentry Academy 5-1 yesterday, the 29-0 Huskies will play #3 Minnetonka for the State Championship. Minnetonka beat #2 Edina 2-1 to advance to the championship game. The Class AA championship game is at 7:00 tonight.
