Detroit Lakes Hockey Earns #3-Seed In Section 8A Tournament

Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – The boys hockey coaches of Section 8A met in Thief River Falls on Wednesday morning to discuss seeding for the Section 8A Tournament, and Detroit Lakes (17-4-1, 7-2-1 section) was awarded the #3 seed in the tournament.

Warroad (19-3-1, 6-0 section) is the top overall seed, Thief River Falls (13-11, 6-4 section) is the second seed. East Grand Forks (8-16, 4-3 section) is the four, Red Lake Falls (16-7-1, 10-1-1 section) is the five, and Kittson County Central (8-15-1, 4-9-1 section) is the sixth seed.

The Lakers will open the 8A Playoffs at home against #6 Kittson County Central on Thursday, February 24th. The semi-finals and finals will then be played in East Grand Forks.

The Lakers are currently ranked 7th in Class A and have two regular-season games remaining: Thursday at home against 8th-ranked Little Falls, and Saturday at home against Northern Lakes.
