DETROIT LAKES (KDLM) – The Detroit Country Club has scrapped plans to have an outside management company manage and consult the course.
The Club had been in talks with Troon, a large golf course management company to provide the services as soon as this spring.
Detroit Lakes Vice Mayor, Ron Zeman says after receiving feedback from the community the plans have been scrapped, “There was talk about having an outside management group come in – that’s not going to happen – we’re going to keep it in house, the board of directors are going to do it and work with the current staff and membership.”
To help offset the cost of running the operation in-house, which the Detroit Country Club Board has said has “gotten too big to continue under current operational structure”, the Detroit Lakes City Council, Tuesday approved an increase to the Club’s 2022 budget by about 5% from $484,495 to $510,010.
“We’ve got a great club and golf course and we want to continue that,” Zeman added.
