Detroit Lakes Strong in Quad, Tuesday

DETROIT LAKES (KDLM) – With the Detroit Lakes Pep band in attendance, the Lakers opened their Quad Rangular with a 66-12 victory over the United Clay Becker Badgers.

DL went up 30-6, thru the first 7 weight classes, including Talan Baker’s first win at varsity at 106, 7-4. Then Tynan Simpson got his first win on the season with a forfeit win at 220. Then Jeffrey Moen, with a pin fall at HWT to close out the victory.

Parents night in between our first and second matches in the Detroit Lakes Quad Tuesday night. The Lakers fell behind 12-0, before Beau Somdahl picked up a 10-4 victory at 120. The Lakers did lead halfway thru at 21-18, before 5 straight forfeits for the Gators of Badger Greenbush Middle River gave DL a  39-18 lead. BGMR got two pins at 182 and 195 , before Connor Zamzo got a pinfall victory at 220 to seal the victory. It finished at 45-36.

The Detroit Lakes Lakers closed out their Quad Rangular on Tuesday night, with a tough loss to a very good, United North Central squad. UNC got off to a 21-0 lead and never looked back. The Lakers finished with four wins in the dual. Cody Bartness at 132, Bradley Swiers at 138, Cade Jackson with an overtime win over Eion Ness and the Jeffrey Moen at HWT. The final score was 46-18. UNC won all three matches and is now 18-8. DL went 2-1 and is 15-14, BGBMR went 1-2 and UCB went 0-3 on the night. DL is at Frazee, Thursday night at 7:30pm on KRCQ.
