DETROIT LAKES (KDLM) – The Detroit Lakes City Park has officially been lit up as part of this year’s Detroit Lakes Polar Fest.
A “Royal Tree” and three additional trees have been decorated with thousands of lights. Additional small ice sculptures have also been added.
“We harvested enough ice to put up some signs and build some ice benches and we’re creating a sweet valentine’s surprise, Emily Beerman a MN Sn’ICE Ice Harvest committee member said.
In early January the MN Sn’ICE Ice Harvest Committee feared recent State COVID guidelines and warm weather would make it difficult to harvest ice this year.
The Committee is hoping to create an Ice Palace in 2022 as a finale to Detroit Lakes’ 150th Anniversary.
