White Earth Chairman Fairbanks Issues Statement On Potential Misuse Of Tribal Funds Concerning Total Spectrum contract

(KDLM) – The Chairman of White Earth Reservation has released a statement regarding the possible misuse of tribal funds. Chairman Michael Fairbanks issued a statement about the alleged misses by White Earth RBS Secretary-Treasurer Leonard Alan Roy and questionable VentureParty contracts that are in a $4.9 million dollar Total Spectrum contract.

“There is no clear record as to how these venture parties got into the contract,” wrote Fairbanks, “but it is clear at this point they were hand-selected behind closed doors due to their political allegiance to Secretary-Treasurer Roy. After the contract was signed and tribal funds were directed, these same parties initiated a baseless petition to remove me from office under the direction of Secretary-Treasurer Roy.”

Fairbanks is calling for the United States Attorney to investigate the Total Spectrum contract, and to investigate Secretary-Treasurer Roy for potentially violating federal law, including the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations act.

Last September, the White Earth RBC approved a contract for Total Spectrum in the amount of $4,884,000 for research and technical advice about the renewable energy industry.
