A letter titled ‘2021 Benefit Information for Minnesota Citizens Only’ received by a resident in Frazee
FRAZEE (KDLM) – A Lakes Area resident is warning others to be on the lookout for letters that appear to be tax documents, but actually aren’t.
One woman in Frazee says she and others have received a letter that looks like an official IRS form that is labeled ‘2021 Benefit Information’. The document says it will provide free life insurance coverage up to $35,000 and asks for your name, spouse’s name and ages.
The letter comes from a direct marketing company in Georgia and is intended to gather names and addresses to then sell to third parties.
Experts say you should be wary of letters that may appear too good to be true and seek additional counsel to verify the legitimacy of letters.
