DETROIT LAKES (KDLM) – Icy conditions from rain and snow has made roadways extremely slippery, creating blow ice.
Winds have been clocked at nearly 60 mph at times in parts of the Lakes Area.
There’s been a number of cars and semi’s that have jack-knifed and ended up in ditches throughout the area.
Minnesota Highway Patrol Sgt. Jesse Grabow says state troopers and first-responders have been busy responding to the crashes. He reminds drivers to slow down and increase their following distance.
As of 10 a.m., Friday West Central Minnesota Troopers have responded to 7 crashes, three with injuries, an additional 18 other vehicles that slid off roadways and 9 jackknifed semis.
