DETROIT LAKES (KDLM) – Area codes are now required when dialing telephone numbers on mobile and landline phones.
As of Sunday, 10-digit dialing is now mandatory due to a growing population. In the past, callers could omit the first three digits for local calls.
Local calls dialed with only seven digits now may not connect, and a recording will inform you that your call cannot be completed as dialed. To place your call, you must hang up and dial again using the area code and the seven-digit number.
