DETROIT LAKES (KDLM) – A Detroit Lakes man will take part in the first ever, all-black American expedition to the peak of Mount Everest.
Eddie Taylor, who grew up in Detroit Lakes is one of nine climbers who will attempt to reach the top of Everest next year.
“Not a lot of people who look like me have been up there, and I think for someone looking to do that, not seeing someone who looks like themselves out there, really makes things harder,” Taylor said in an interview with FOX 9 in the Twin Cities.
Taylor says he’ll spend the next few months training for the high altitude climb before the 70-day expedition begins next March.
