Two Northern Minnesota Men Nearly Die from Carbon Monoxide Poisoning While Working in Garage

ROCKWOOD TOWNSHIP (KDLM) – Two Northern Minnesota men nearly died of Carbon Monoxide Poisoning while working in a garage, Thursday.

Around noon, on January 21 the Hubbard County Sheriff’s Office received a report of two people that were unresponsive at a residence in Rockwood Township in northern Hubbard County.

Deputies and medical personnel arrived to find 56-year old, Anthony Dippel of Coleraine, MN and 23-year old, Kyle Baird of Grand Rapids, MN outside recovering from apparent carbon monoxide poisoning.

The investigation showed that Baird and Dippel had been inside a garage working on a running engine when one went unconscious and the other began throwing up. Another individual arrived at the residence and found the two victims. He quickly opened the door on the garage and assisted the victims.

Both victims were transported by Bemidji Ambulance to Sanford Hospital in Bemidji.
