WHITE EARTH (KDLM) – White Earth has announced that they are prohibiting teal hunting on active wild rice beds within the Reservation boundaries.
The notice comes as the Minnesota DNR announced an “Early teal season” September 4-8. White Earth has made the decision to ensure the safety of wild rice harvesters within the Reservation boundaries.
“The decision to allow duck hunters in the same waters leaves our Anishinaabe families unprotected and vulnerable while they exercise their inherent right to harvest Manoomin,” the White Earth RBC said in a press release.
