
DETROIT LAKES (KDLM) – Minnesota State Patrol had every trooper on patrol throughout the Lakes Area, Thursday.
Northern Maroon Day, meant to help educate motorists on dangerous driving behaviors utilized every trooper in St. Cloud, Duluth, Brainerd, Detroit Lakes, Virginia and Thief River Falls looking for the most common violations that are driving an increase in traffic fatalities.
Traffic fatalities have gone up 26% this year from 226 in 2020 to 284 in 2021 on Minnesota roadways.
Speed, unbelted motorists, distracted and impaired drivers are the leading contributing factors in traffic crashes in Minnesota
