Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – The Minnesota Vikings didn’t need a touchdown to stay perfect. The Vikings beat the winless Miami Dolphins 15-10 Sunday at U.S. Bank Stadium on five field goals by Will Reichard, who accounted for every Minnesota point.
Reichard connected from 47, 50, 33, 41 and 29 yards. He is now 12-for-12 on field goals this season and has accounted for every Vikings point in two of their four wins, including the 9-3 victory at Chicago in Week Two. His 31 straight made field goals tie Fuad Reveiz for the second-longest streak in team history, trailing only Gary Anderson’s 35.
Tight end T.J. Hockenson carried the offense with star wide receiver Justin Jefferson sidelined by an ankle injury, the first game he’s missed since Week 12 of the 2023 season. Hockenson tied a career high with 13 catches for 119 yards on 13 targets, and 10 of those catches, good for 80 yards, came in the fourth quarter alone.
Minnesota led 9-0 at halftime, but Miami found life in the second half behind running back Ollie Gordon, who rushed for more than 100 yards in his first start in place of the injured De’Von Achane. Gordon’s 53-yard run set up a Dolphins field goal, and after Reichard’s fourth kick, Gordon scored from 12 yards out to pull Miami within two.
Reichard’s 29-yarder made it 15-10 with 6:41 left. The defense then forced a punt, and the Vikings held the ball the rest of the way. Hockenson sealed it with an eight-yard catch on third-and-5. He was wide open and could have scored, but slid down short of the goal line to run the clock to the two-minute warning. With Miami out of timeouts, Minnesota only had to kneel from there.
Quarterback Kyler Murray completed 27 of 37 passes for 247 yards without a turnover, but was sacked four times by a Dolphins defense that had zero sacks in its first three games. Aaron Jones added 20 carries for 94 yards and four catches for 34 yards.
On the other side of the ball, the Vikings defense smothered Miami’s passing game. Dolphins quarterback Malik Willis completed nine of 17 passes for 85 yards with no touchdowns and lost a fumble on a sack. Edge rusher Dallas Turner was credited with a sack and a forced fumble.
Minnesota (4-and-0) visits New Orleans (1-and-2) in Week Five, while Miami (0-and-4) hosts Cincinnati.
