Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kyler Murray is trying to work his way back onto the field in time for Sunday’s game in Chicago.
Murray was a limited participant in practice Wednesday as he goes through the NFL’s concussion protocol. Head coach Kevin O’Connell says the team has not ruled him out, but Murray must be medically cleared before any decision is made, and O’Connell wants that to happen by Friday.
Murray was hurt on the 11th play of his Vikings debut in Sunday’s season opener against the Green Bay Packers. He was sliding at the end of a scramble when Packers safety Javon Bullard hit him in the head. Bullard was flagged for a personal foul, and Murray was ruled out for the rest of the game.
Carson Wentz came off the bench and threw three touchdown passes as the Vikings scored 22 points in the fourth quarter to beat Green Bay.
If Murray isn’t cleared, Wentz will start against the Bears on Sunday, September 20th, at Soldier Field. It would be the 100th start of his NFL career.
