Twins Rout Tigers 15-2, Take Series At Target Field

Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – The Minnesota Twins broke a tie with a 10-run sixth inning and buried the Detroit Tigers 15-2 Tuesday night at Target Field, locking up the series win with a game to spare.

Royce Lewis, Ryan Jeffers and Kody Clemens all went deep. Lewis finished 3-for-5 with a home run, a double, three RBI and two runs scored. Jeffers homered and tripled and drove in three. Kaelen Culpepper also had three RBI, and Luke Keaschall drove in two.

Minnesota put up three runs in the fifth before the sixth inning blew the game open. The Twins finished with 13 hits and went 6-for-15 with runners in scoring position. Detroit went 0-for-8 in those spots.

Connor Prielipp got the win after five scoreless innings, giving up three hits and striking out five. Tigers starter Troy Melton took the loss, charged with seven runs, five earned, over 5 1/3 innings.

The win is Minnesota’s third straight. The Twins lead the three-game set 2-0 and go for the sweep tonight at 6:40 p.m. at Target Field.
