The Becker County Sheriff’s Office issued a public alert Friday afternoon regarding ongoing police activity in the area of Midwest Bank on Highway 10 East in Detroit Lakes.
Authorities say a suspect was last seen behind the bank heading south. The individual is described as a male with a darker complexion wearing a ski mask, gloves, and all-black clothing while carrying a duffle bag over his shoulder. Officials say the suspect may be armed.
At 2:45 pm the Sheriff’s Office confirmed the suspect had not been apprehended. A State Patrol helicopter had also been assisting law enforcement in the search.
Residents who received a text message or phone alert regarding police activity in the area were advised that the alert is legitimate.
The public is urged not to approach anyone matching the description. Anyone who sees the suspect or has information about the individual’s whereabouts should immediately contact Becker County Dispatch at 218-847-2661.
The search remains active, and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
