The Detroit Lakes Regional Chamber of Commerce and the League of Women Voters are inviting the public to attend an upcoming Coffee and Community event focused on the importance of local journalism.
The event will take place Wednesday, June 3, from 8 to 9:15 AM at the Becker County Museum Event Hall in Detroit Lakes.
Discussion will focus on the role local newspapers, radio, and television stations play in keeping communities informed and connected. Featured panelists include Paula Quam, editorial director for Forum Communications; Jarrod Thomas, general manager of Leighton Media; and Kevin Wallevand of WDAY-TV.
The informational meeting will be presented as a facilitated panel discussion rather than an audience question-and-answer session. Attendees will also receive handouts with media contact information, websites, and additional resources. Coffee and pastries will be provided.
This event is designed for business owners, community members, and anyone interested in learning more about the future and importance of local journalism. RSVP information is available through the Detroit Lakes Regional Chamber of Commerce.
