Ogema, MN – A Callaway man has been sentenced to 5 years of probation for breaking into his ex’s house.
Prosecutors say that around 8 a.m. on February 3, White Earth Police were called to a home in Ogema for a man, later identified as 40-year-old Eric Scott Lindsay, threatening people with a bat. Officers spoke with the victim, who told them that Lindsay was her ex, and he was at her home, acting aggressive. The victim said she told Lindsay to leave, but he instead pushed her down and spat on her face.
Court documents say the victim’s friend who was at the home got into an argument with Lindsay. Lindsay then grabbed a baseball bat, and the victim locked herself in the home. Lindsay broke down the door and the victim called 911.
Lindsay told officers that he was trying to leave, but the victim wouldn’t let him. He also admitted to grabbing a baseball bat but said that he only did so after the friend grabbed a tire-iron.
Lindsay was initially charged with 1st degree burglary but pleaded down to 3rd degree burglary in March as part of a plea agreement. On Wednesday, he was sentenced to 5 years of probation and 52 days in local custody, which he already had credit for serving.
