A 21-year-old Frazee man has been sentenced to 40 years in prison for a fatal shooting during an armed robbery in Frazee last December.
Arthur Deshun Campbell was sentenced Tuesday in Becker County District Court after being convicted of second-degree intentional murder without premeditation, second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon and soliciting juveniles to commit a felony.
Judge Michelle Lawson ordered Campbell to serve 480 months, or 40 years, at the Minnesota Correctional Facility in St. Cloud for the murder conviction. He was given credit for 151 days already served in custody.
The assault conviction resulted in a concurrent 51-month prison sentence, while the solicitation conviction carried a concurrent 44-month sentence.
Campbell was also ordered to pay $6,567 in restitution.
According to the criminal complaint, Becker County deputies responded at about 2:38 a.m. on Dec. 20, 2025, to a report of shots fired at a residence on Ash Avenue West in Frazee. Deputies found the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the chest and head. He later died at Essentia St. Mary’s Hospital.
Investigators said Campbell and another suspect entered the home armed with handguns and demanded money, marijuana vape cartridges and other items. Witnesses told authorities the suspects pointed guns at several people inside the residence while demanding valuables.
Authorities said the suspects fled in a dark-colored SUV before being stopped by law enforcement near Perham about 12 minutes later.
During an interview with investigators, Campbell admitted he entered the residence armed with a 9 mm Glock handgun while wearing black clothing and a face covering. He also admitted firing at the victim, saying he aimed at the victim’s leg because he did not want him to chase them.
